Toenail Fungus Treatment

toenail fungus

No one will argue with the fact that being sick with anything is not a pleasant occupation. And when it comes to fungal infection, there is nothing to say about it, and it is clear that there is nothing good about it. Treatment of toenail fungus on the big toe is a long and time-consuming process, but it is still worth doing it, the consequences and complications can be several times worse than the disease itself. The infection spreads to the entire limb or even the foot and creates great problems with movement.

Toenail fungus is just one type of infection, and it can affect other parts of the feet as well: feet, other toes, and so on. According to statistics, about 25% of the world's population sooner or later come to the doctor with this infection. And if it also hurts, then it definitely means that it is time to treat the fungus on the legs.

But fortunately, there is a cure, and it is not that difficult to cure the fungus permanently. There are so many ways of treatment that everyone, if they wish, can find a remedy that can treat just his pathology on the leg.

Treatment of a fungus on the big toe is prescribed by a dermatologist after consultation with the patient. This takes into account the individual characteristics of the patient, in particular, his allergic reaction to any component of the drug. If there is one, then it is necessary to prescribe its analogue and not aggravate health.

How is this pathology treated?

First of all, if there is a suspicion of a fungal infection, you need to remove the infected area. Where is she? That's right - on the big toe, or where it hurts. It also happens that the serious stage of the fungus and the further course of the disease slows down, and a removal operation is performed on the surface of the affected area. Treatment is prescribed by a specialized dermatologist and no one else.

To treat this infection, modern medicine has come up with a great variety of drugs, both for the nail itself and the finger itself, and for the entire lower limb. These are not only pills - for the most part, not even them - but a variety of creams, ointments, varnishes for use on the legs and much more. To make the treatment as effective as possible, specialists mix these methods for treating toenail fungus.

Treatment with folk remedies

What to do if your thumb hurts and you still have not had time to consult a dermatologist for a consultation? You need to drown the pain with at least something, you need improvised means, and traditional medicine can help you with this. Our ancestors have noticed the properties of some products for centuries, and their many years of experience are used by people to this day.

So what could it be?

  1. Potato peel. After peeling the potatoes, set the clean potatoes aside and take the skins. This recipe does not specify how many cleanings you need, so the more the better. They need to be put in a saucepan (with a large volume), filled with water and cooked until the peel is soft. It should be really soft so you can easily crush it right in the pot. When the peel reaches this state, the feet and the infected toenail are soaked with the resulting liquid. Therefore, it is important that the pot is large. After smearing, it is necessary to wash off the mass from the toe and foot, rub with pork fat and put on warm socks. This mass does not have an unpleasant odor and is easy to use on your feet: you need to rub them daily until you are completely sure that nothing hurts, and that the infection will no longer bother you.
  2. Water + 70% vinegar solution. As in the previous case, the exact amount of ingredients required to cure a fungal infection of the toenail is not specified, there is only an instruction to take equal parts of both ingredients. The dough is infused on the finished mixture - of course, you need to be careful so that nothing remains afterwards. The dough is placed on the affected nail, and the area around it is sealed with adhesive tape. The procedure is carried out from three to five days, until the nail is completely separated from the finger. And if this does not happen, then you are doing something wrong.
  3. Lemon, whose juice is rich in various nutrients and nutrients, can also help against toenail fungus. From one lemon you need to cut off a circle, then divide it into two parts and put one half on the nail. The compress is fixed, lemon juice does its job. Such treatment lasts from 8 to 10 days, depending on the results achieved.
  4. Aspen bark can be used as a foot bath and your thumb will thank you for it. To do this, you need to grind the bark and take 100 grams of this bark for half a liter. All this is mixed and poured into a small basin, where the legs are steamed. After that, it is necessary to prepare the following liquid for processing: 1 teaspoon of crushed soap (preferably household) is mixed with soda until a gruel is formed. It lubricates the affected nail and the entire finger, if necessary.
  5. Two cloves of garlic must be chopped to the maximum, after which it is mixed with warmed butter in a volume of one hundred grams. The resulting liquid is infused for one day. It can be used to apply to the nail after water treatments. This method is good because it has been practiced for quite a long time - a whole month, although the treatment is carried out regularly, but the result will appear after seven days: the defeat of the thumbnail will begin to recede. Nothing hurts, and new disputes do not appear.
  6. Sea salt can also be used for bathing: it is dissolved in a liter of hot boiled water and the feet are steamed. If necessary, the salt concentration can be increased by calculating one tablespoon per liter of hot water. The main thing is not to overdo it and be as accurate as possible in your calculations. Such baths are carried out for two weeks, after which the result will be visible, and the fungus will begin to recede.
  7. Rowan can only be found at certain times of the year (in summer), but at the same time it is of great importance for the thumb, the nail of which is affected by the infection. To carry out the treatment, the leaves of mountain ash are crushed to form a gruel, which should be applied to the nail affected by the fungus. After ten days, you can stop this procedure.
  8. Some flowers that grow outdoors have a very rich layer of nutrients and minerals that nature has endowed them with. These are flowers such as chamomile and string, which can be harvested to support healing. The violet, which is more considered a houseplant, also belongs to the herbs that can be used to treat toenail fungus. The crushed flowers are mixed together and poured with a liter of boiled water. The liquid is infused for two hours and filtered. You can dip a piece of gauze into the tincture and make a compress out of it, which must be changed every time the fabric dries.

It is possible to treat toenail fungus with the help of traditional medicine, but it is still better to consult a doctor. If you are wrong with the concentration, the liquid that should treat the disease, on the contrary, aggravates the problem. Therefore, it is extremely important to be registered with a practicing dermatologist, and if a desire arises, you can consult with him about the treatment of the nail with folk remedies. The specialist will determine how useful they will be in your case, and will draw a reasonable conclusion.

Prophylaxis

The fungus on the big toe has one nasty trait that is inherent in every fungus on any part of the leg: it has the property of returning. Therefore, it is very important to choose the right preventive measures and do everything to reduce the risk of a return. Even an intensive and combined treatment does not guarantee complete safety against fungus for toenails.

First of all, when the patient is cured, you need to disinfect the shoes. This will help remove spores that may have remained there during the course of the infection, and in the future may independently cause a foot fungus.

It is very important to maintain the feet in an atmosphere that is conducive to their healing. For example, keep them warm and, if possible, avoid crowded places where infection can spread, such as swimming pools, gyms, and other places where a skin infection spreads with profuse sweating, mainly on the legs. The fungus is transmitted with ease, and those who have already had it are at risk of catching the infection more than anyone else. Therefore, so that the treatment is not in vain, you need to do everything possible.
